Jim and Rich Dorsett came to Venice, Florida in 1969. Frank Dorsett – their father and founding member of the company, began his career in drafting and sign design in London. After coming to the states he worked for a sign company in Dayton Ohio before moving to Venice and going to work for Berlin Signs. In 1978 Frank started his own company as Frank Dorsett Signs. When his son’s graduated from Venice High School they decided to follow in Frank’s footsteps and Frank Dorsett and Sons Signs was formed in 1985. In 2004 – due to the details of Florida’s incorporation laws, the company name was changed to what it remains today – Dorsett Signs, Inc.
The sign business has changed over the years – from hand lettered signs, to vinyl signs to full graphic printing and lamination, yet the family and staff at Dorsett Signs, Inc. have held the same commitment to quality, service and customer loyalty as when Frank began.
